Sansui “Chopin” iPhone/iPod Speaker System
Model ion+ SGID – 2038-XBW
UPDATE 1: I discovered
that this speaker was manufactured by Sansui South Korea and imported into
Singapore by Sansui Singapore.
I purchased
this speaker in 2005 and Sansui South Korea apparently went out of business shortly
thereafter.
And now,
apparently the entire global Sansui company is out of business.
UPDATE 2:
As noted
below, this speaker was purchased and designed for use in Asia. Therefore, it is 240 volts, and I have to use
a step up transformer in the USA.
I would like
to know if it’s possible to swap out the power supply so that it will run on
110 volts. It would appear that the
entire back panel containing electronics
and power (see image below) can be removed as a unit
but I don’t know what is inside and I cannot find any documentation on the web.
ABOUT THIS SPEAKER
Dimensions: 8 inches long, 4 inches wide and 3 inches
deep, with small feet to allow space for down facing bass speaker.
I purchased
a couple of the small speaker systems shown below, the Sansui “Chopin”
iPhone/iPod speaker system. It is a 240
volt device, 60 watts. Comes with a
remote.
This speaker has absolutely fantastic sound,
especially for such a small box. It has
a ported bass system and beats many others I have listened to.
Here is the
problem: I cannot find any information
about this speaker system in the web.
Sansui US has never heard of it.
Thus, can
you tell me about this system? Is it
sold in a 110 volt model? Who makes
it? Where can I buy it besides
Singapore?
All
responses much appreciated.
