Cabling on Exterior Wall

Text Box: Red Cable – Finance Office – This cable will run from the Youth Room (C) to the Finance room (D).  Will use weatherized, unshielded CAT5e cabling.  This is a 40-foot horizontal run with a 20-foot vertical drop from the Youth Room and 10 feet up to the Finance Room for 70 feet total.  The intention is to use existing holes for the Comcast cable on one end and the hole for AT&T phone service on the other end.  Use “screw into brick” cable clips every 24” on the brick wall.
Green Cable – Pastor’s Office - This cable will run from the Youth Room (C) to the Pastor’s office (E).  Will use weatherized, unshielded CAT5e cabling.  This is a 20-foot vertical drop with an under 10-foot horizontal run for 30 feet total.  The intention is to use existing holes for the Comcast cable on one end and drill a hole on the other end for optimum placement in the pastor’s office.  Use cable clips every 24” on the brick wall.
Yellow Cable – Admin Office - This cable will run from the Youth Room (C) to the Admin office (F).  Will use weatherized, unshielded CAT5e cabling.  This is a 40 foot horizontal run with a 20 foot vertical drop for 60 feet total.  The intention is to use existing holes for the Comcast cable on one end and the hole for AT&T phone service on the other end.  Use cable fasteners every 24” on the brick wall.

Notes For Exterior Cabling

Text Box: 1.	Holes on exterior will be rounded out so that cables don’t exceed minimum bend radius.
2.	Cables in youth room with be left with 3 to 4 feet of length, will be terminated with RJ-45 male connectors, and will plug directly into PoE switch (no patch panel).
3.	The cables that terminate in the Finance, Admin, and Pastor offices will be terminated as follows due to mounting on concrete walls:
a.	2 to 3 feet of slack will be brought into each office in order to have room to connect to an on-wall jack.
b.	Will use surface mount outlet box and single keystone jack face plate to avoid bends.
c.	Wire will be pushed back through the wall and fastened as a loop on the exterior wall.
d.	All holes to be filled with silicone caulk.
e.	Cable will be fastened to exterior wall with screw type cable clips.  A hole will be drilled and a plastic anchor inserted for each clip.

Notes About Interior Cabling

Text Box: 1.	All on-wall cabling will be run through PVC raceways similar to the example shown below and will be color matched as closely as possible or plain white.  These raceways are fastened to the walls with adhesives.
2.	Raceways will be used in the following areas.
a.	Admin office from switch to AP.
b.	Pastor’s office from switch to AP.
c.	Finance office from switch to AP.
d.	Down the interior wall of the gym, either outside or inside the store room (see floorplan below).
e.	In the back hallway, next to the fire extinguisher to provide power from an outlet to an in ceiling AP (Note:  If power can be obtained from an EXIT sign next to the gym, this will be unnecessary.
3.	Plenum rated cabling will be used throughout the installation.
4.	Unless otherwise noted, cabling for the back of the church (pantry, kitchen, children’s room, women’s parlor, and the fellowship hall) will be routed through the false ceiling.
5.	Existing cabling to the sanctuary AV area will be used but new cables in the AV area will be used to support new AP’s and live streaming of the Sunday services.

The Youth Room and Storeroom

Text Box: 1-	Existing Comcast cable modem, switch, and access point.  Will clean up wiring, perhaps add an additional shelf.  Will replace the existing switch with a PoE switch for powering AP’s as below.
a.	The three exterior cables will plug into the switch into non-PoE ports.
b.	The existing CAT5e cable running to the AV room at the back of the sanctuary will be plugged into the non-PoE ports.
c.	Two other existing CAT5e cables connected to the TV’s at the front of the sanctuary, will be plugged into the non-PoE ports.
2-	Approximate entry point of 3 exterior CAT5e cables.  
3-	This wire mold cable cover will hold two CAT5e unshielded, plenum-rated cables. 
a.	One of the cables will terminate in the storeroom ceiling, connected to an AP which will support the gym and surrounding areas from the second floor.  This cable will be plugged into a PoE port (see floorplan below).
b.	The second cable will be dragged to the hallway area for connection to various AP’s in the back area of the church, including the fellowship room. 
4-	A TP-Link Omada OC200 hardware controller will be plugged into a PoE port of the switch.

Back Hallway, Rooms, and Fellowship Room

Text Box: Refer to the floorplan diagram below.
1.	Cable will go through the gym wall and into the false ceiling and will be pulled approximately 40 feet down the hallway to a point where power is available.  A four port PoE switch will be installed and connected to a power outlet on the wall with power cords covered with cable raceway.
a.	Note:  If power can be taken from an EXIT sign just outside the gym, PoE switch will be placed near the exit sign and other cables run from there.
2.	From the PoE switch:
a.	One cable pulled about 15 feet back up the hallway to center an EAP610 in the hallway.
b.	On cable will be pulled through the kitchen to the fellowship hall over the serving doorways.  A hole will be drilled through to the fellowship hall and an EAP620 will be installed.

Admin, Finance, and Pastor’s Offices

Text Box: Each of the offices will be wired as shown below with minor variations in placement and cable length.
1.	The exterior cables will terminate in an on wall RJ45 jack, which will be found approximately 1 foot above the floor. 
a.	The keystone jack faceplates will be mounted with a deep surface mount box to ensure minimum bend radius is met (see example below)
2.	A short patch cable will connect the jack to P-Link TL-SG1005, 5 port PoE, unmanaged switch
3.	Cable raceways will be installed above the jack to the ceiling for wiring between the switch and AP.  
4.	A TP-Link EAP225 V3 will be installed on the ceiling, close to the wall, and connected to a PoE port.  
5.	A second PoE port will be used for a VOIP telephone.

Issues to Be Resolved with This Cabling Project

Text Box: 1.	This church is about 100 years old and has thick interior concrete walls.  These walls block Wi-Fi signals.
2.	The gym and storerooms (A & B) are add-ons and have sheetrock walls.  Also, the food pantry and Children’s room (H & J, image below) 
3.	The intent of this project is to install hardwire cabling and access points into various concrete wall rooms.
4.	Additional access points to be installed in add-on areas for maximum coverage in rooms in this area.
5.	At the same time, all rented access points and software will be returned to Comcast, including a second cable modem.

Current Configuration

Text Box: Comcast cable modem, plus 4G/5G public Wi-Fi access point plus alleged 4G cable backup located in Youth room (C) 
on bookshelf directly behind the entry point as shown by (1).  Also includes an 8 port POE switch.
One Arista C-200 access point is connected to the switch.  Not mounted, sits on bookshelf, next to cable modem.
There is a hardwire connection from the youth room switch to the AV room in the balcony in the sanctuary (2).  A switch connects to an Arista C-200 access point, again, not mounted, lying loose on a table.  The switch is also hardwired to a computer which is used to livestream Sunday services (not currently operational).
The Pastor’s office (E) is able to receive the Wi-Fi signals from the Youth room (C) but signal drops out sporadically.
TEUMC pays Comcast $177.32 for this setup which includes internet service, cable modem rental, and rental of two access points plus charges for the access point configuration software.
Because the Comcast access points cannot penetrate the concrete walls, the Admin room (F) has an AT&T DSL modem installed (6 Mbps) for internet access for administrative personnel.
The Childrens room (H) contains a second Comcast cable modem, connected to the external cable through a hole in the west church wall.  This cable modem is connected to 1 Arista C-200 access point which is located in the hallway immediately outside the door to the Childrens room.  This access point is supposed to serve the gymnasium and food pantry area.  The signal is OK but the access point is improperly configured and cannot be used.
TEUMC pays Comcast $178.34 for this second setup which includes internet service, cable modem rental, and rental of 
one access points plus charges for the access point configuration software.
AT&T has also installed a second DSL modem in the Childrens room which was supposed to augment internet service
in this part of the church.  However, the AT&T cable (white), which you can see running along the bottom of the wall, has been cut, either by animals or a weed whacker, rendering this DSL modem useless.  AT&T is not billing for this second modem.
